Programs

Zac’s Tracs offers many snowmobile related Avalanche Safety courses that will help save your life while out in the backcountry.

The Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 (AST 1) is the most popular certificate course that is taken through Zac’s.  The program follows the curriculum created by Avalanche Canada and is the first step in growing your knowledge on how to stay safe in the mountains.

The Zac’s Level 1.5 is a workshop created by Zac’s Tracs as an opportunity to apply the vocabulary, skills and concepts introduced in the AST 1.  This program is a great lead-in to the Avalanche Skills Training Level 2 (AST 2) and will cover topics on terrain, forecasts and rescue through case studies, videos and group exercises.
The AST 1 is a pre-requisite for this program.

AST 2 is a four day, field based course designed for AST 1 graduates to improve rescue skills, route selection and terrain management.  Students will take turns leading group discussions, rescue activities and travel decisions receiving feedback from instructors and participants to improve their situational awareness and confidence while traveling in the backcountry.
