Roll, cut...print
These pictures are from “Christmas Miracle” that Randy & I worked on in March. The lead actors were Jamie Gertz (Twister & Still Standing) and Dylan Walsh (Nip n Tuck). Randy was the Picture Car Coordinator but by the time the show was over he had a turn at almost every department…even wardrobe and hair make-up! He certainly put his sled experience to use helping the director and stunt coordinator set up the shots.

A nice surprise for me, I worked 4 days as a stunt double. How do you like my long beautiful, flowing locks! Very Hollywood. My hair pieces looked like dreadlocks by the end of the shooting day and yet the actress’s hair was still beautifully curled down her back…even on her 4th day of being lost in the bush.
Friendly cast, great crew, had fun, learned lots. Even got my first helicopter ride!

Nice cheesy picture of me standing by the sled. Don’t laugh too hard!
We were shooting for a week at Nakiska ski hill west of Calgary. Pretty challenging as the shooting took place in mid to late March and on the eastern slopes of the Rockies…the snow was fading fast. A little hard to carve in 2” of fresh on a packed ski hill! It was definitely a one take movie when it came to the sled stuff. Once the snow was tracked up…there was no opportunity for ‘Take Two’!

On a couple of days I worked for Transport. We had under powered trail sleds, pulling toboggans and moving crew around. The ski run in the background of the picture above is quite a bit steeper than it looks. It became quite an adventure by the end of the shoot…wind blown, icy and big loads. Pretty cool to get paid for having fun though! Let’s hope they make some more sled movies in the Rockies next year.
