5 Things Every Snowmobiler Must Do

Before Heading into Avalanche Country

We hope you enjoy the series! Be sure to post your comments below!!

  1. I just spent my first season riding in the back country. The more I rode, the more I have realized how little I know when it comes to back country riding safety. I have registered for the AST1 course this upcoming fall and look forward to the training. This mini quiz is a great opportunity to keep me engaged over the off season.

  2. Just received and went through my first mini quiz. Very interesting and keeps ya thinking. I like that it is short but very informative. Should be much easier to absorb the information without being overloaded. A very good idea and look forward to the other quizzes to follow. Always nice to review previously learned information to keep it fresh.

  3. Definitely find these informative, love the approach ZacsTracs takes in regards to avalanche safety. I never wanted to go to the mountains because of avalanches and how they are portrayed in the media, but after taking in class and online training it makes me feel much better about making smart choices. Can’t wait to take the field course next year!

See you there Allison! Lori Z.

  4. Last year was my first season snowmobiling in the backcountry and thanks to zacstracs and totally awesome adventures I went into it with the respect that the mountain deserves. I can’t believe people still go up without training. We all were happy to take time to evaluate snowpack instead of heading straight up a slope. No incidents occurred on our trip and we owe it to you guys. Thanks :)

Glad you enjoyed the classes Darren! The AST1 Field session sure helps the classroom info become more usable. The idea is to be more aware of our surroundings and whether the signs and our activities are increasing or decreasing unnecessary risk. Training reminds us to take off the blindfold and make deliberate decisions during our riding day! SledSmart! Lori Zacaruk

  6. I recently took the classroom portion of your AST1 course and I am curious to see how much I learned/remembered. Great idea to bring up this quiz – it’s a good refresher & gets the brain thinking in the right way!

  9. I thought this course was going to be a waste of my time, but after taking it, it is worth every penny and every minute of my time. Highly recommend taking the course. After taking the course, I don’t want to ride with anybody that hasn’t taken the course.
