Holiday Fun 2008
Back in the fall of ‘07 I was pretty sure that a good strategy to keep the troops on side was to book a trip to Disney World for late February. Other than Christmas, we weren’t home much this winter.
My plan was solid. This carrot worked pretty good for the kids…and Randy. “Honest guys….only 3 more weeks ‘til Florida, hang in there!”
Florida in February…best time to go. No line ups!

Monica and Nicole just wanted autographs. They filled their books…but guess who we missed! Mickey Mouse! Too funny. We kinda left him to the last day and then he was no where to be found.

Didn’t think that Disney could top the fireworks display at the Sunday performance of the Stampede. Well they did it. Fireworks all around the Park and you can’t beat the Magic Kingdom Castle in the middle of it all. Part way through the show, Tinker Bell ‘flew’ over our heads on a giant zip line. The kids thought it was pretty neat.

I can’t even guess how many people are employed to keep the Parks running. Everything runs so smoothly.

What a good dad spending time with his young daughter!

The Disney Animal Kingdom was really cool. These pictures were taken from a large ‘jeep’ that trundled through an ‘African Safari’. Wow! I couldn’t believe how many animals were in the Park in relatively natural settings. They did a great job of disguising the barriers between the predators and the prey.

There were a few Cap’ Jack’s in the Park. They did an awesome job of the make-up and the acting. He was just as big a wingnut in person as he was on screen!

Sandbox bully…did he really do it?! Of course he did. It’s Randy. Would you expect anything less?

SeaWorld was cool too! We watched a show with trapeze artists, gymnasts, 9 dolphins and 2 whales. How do you get 9 dolphins to run a synchronized routine? For the killer whale show, Nicole insisted that they sit at the front. Yep, Randy and Nicole were absolutely soaked by the end of the show! She had a big smile on her face though.

Standing in line for the Little Mermaid’s autograph was one of the longest lines, ~15 minutes. Randy hardly complained. He was pretty sure that all the father’s standing in the line up were there for the same reason…to see how big Ariel’s shells might be.
Big joke on the men though. As you can see, Ariel appears to be pretty shy. Those long, flowing, red locks block all opportunities for a quick peek!
